North Horizon Foundation Supports the Future of Community Sport Through FIFA Legacy Program

June 2, 2026, Toronto, ON – North Horizon Foundation is pleased to support a $260,000 contribution to the City of Toronto’s Soccer for All Legacy Program, a FIFA World Cup 2026™ legacy initiative that will help create accessible, inclusive, and community-based mini soccer pitches across Toronto while expanding opportunities for youth participation in sport.

One of the program's newest facilities, the community mini pitch at Amesbury Park, officially opened on June 2 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by local City Councillor Frances Nunziata, community members, youth participants, and project supporters. During the event, members of a local youth soccer club participated in a training demonstration on the new pitch, showcasing the opportunities the facility will create for young athletes and the broader community.

The Amesbury Park mini pitch features North Horizon Foundation signage recognizing the company's contribution to the FIFA Legacy Program and its support for community recreation initiatives. The opening of the facility represents another milestone for the program and demonstrates how these donations are creating new opportunities for youth and families in communities across the city. In addition to the new facilities, the FIFA Legacy Program will support free community programming designed to encourage participation, inclusion, and active living.

The broader initiative was highlighted on May 22 when the City of Toronto officially unveiled its first "Soccer For All" Legacy Mini Pitch at Scarborough Village Park. As part of a growing effort to create accessible, inclusive, and community-focused recreational spaces ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026™, the program is designed to ensure communities continue benefiting from the tournament long after the final match is played. The opening of the Amesbury Park mini pitch represents another important step in delivering these lasting community benefits.
